SEDONA TO WILLIAMS & GRAND CANYON (126 miles)

After Sedona I couldn’t imagine how the Grand Canyon would be and my reaction upon seeing this thing. Ryan kept telling me about it but I didn’t want to know anything else, I didn’t want to imagine more than I could see. So…we got to William, AZ. A tiny little town on the old Route 66. We found this little motel, I was expecting the crappiest room of our trip to be here but surprisingly it was really nice! Small, kinda tight but cozy, and contemporary. Not was I expecting…we were surprised when we opened the door. We brought our stuff in and took off to the Canyon, an hour drive.

Grand CanyonI didn’t think we’d pay that much to get in…you get ripped off by being forced to buy a 7-day pass for only a few hours needed, that costs $25! Yup…wish we would be able to stay a whole week. It’s weird when you get there cause you don’t see anything! nothing at all. It’s like a giaaaant hole in the ground. AH-MAZING. I don’t know what to think of it. I kept wanting to go back to the past and see how that all formed. Unbelievable. We walked and walked, and talked to a guy who was sweet enough to take our picture, he was just sitting under a tree, facing the open view. He told us he made it half way down with his friend, his friend kept going all the way down and came back all in one day. Something not recommended, it’s a long way down. After talking to him I really wanted to do it, it’ll be fun to do a trail and camp down there. Maybe even canoe on the river.

We stayed there for a few hours, took toooons of pictures until the sun had set. We made the sunset…and it quickly turned dark. My feet were hurting and I got a terrible rash on the back of my knees from my jeans, I could barely walk. Went down to the gift shop, got some food and went back to our hotel room in Williams. The only complaint about this hotel was the breakfast. We had packaged doughnuts you buy at gas stations, cinammon rolls, etc and they ran out of coffee :( ….bleh! We have been spoiled during this whole trip.

Next: Finally…to California!!!
