Celebrating Family in Oregon

We’re finally starting our trip, feels a little weird cause it seemed like this day would never come, but here we are and it’s happening. I felt like we were not supposed to go  but we made it to Oregon after all what happened that postponed our trip but the trip here was a trip alright.

For a while now I’ve been feeling like this bike trip was never going to happen. One thing after the other, going wrong, delaying the trip and I just really felt like God was saying “when are you going to give up trying to go! don’t you see I’m trying to make you staaaay!!!” BUT, maybe God was really just saying don’t give up, you’re still going”. Regardless, we had a few obstacles before the trip and then again even on our way to Oregon.

The van was super duper packed, two bikes outside and one inside plus all of our panniers, sleeping bags, mats, music stuff, tents and stuff. I can’t believe we brought this much stuff, I don’t think any of us know how we’re gonna carry of of this.

We stopped to put gas in this really small town, not much around and when dad when to turn the car back on…battery dead. Ay ay ay! An angel sent from above dressed up as a mechanic jumped started it and sent us to his “shop” and there the kind workers where able to fix us up in no time and on the road we went again.

We got to Oregon pretty late at night but Auntie J was sweet and left all kinds of comfy stuff out for us to use. From then on, our stay was lovely.

We’ve really enjoyed our stay in Oregon, I’m actually not ready to leave :) It’s been a ton of fun spending time with the family and just hanging out around Portland and at their cozy home with great people and fun pugs.

The Pugs (minus Bentley)

We made it to Washington and visited Ryan’s parent’s friends, beautiful view, beautiful drive. I enjoyed the 4 pugs and the wonderful weather we had in Oregon.  I really hope we can come back soon to visit :) Love you guys! see you soon in September!

But now the time has come…

So we’re heading out to Astoria, Ryan’s parents are dropping us off and we’ll bike to the campsite, a tiny short ride but we’ll do a long day tomorrow, I think a 30 something mile ride and find a place to camp. I know 30 miles don’t sound like much, but you must remember this is our first trip and we haven’t really trained for it at all. So…with that said…

Please keep us in your prayers, thoughts or whatever and wish us safety and good weather! Keep checking here for more updates. We’ll post as soon as we hit a library somewhere. I’ll try to add pictures if it’s possible to do that at a library, otherwise you might have to wait until we get back.
