Welp, we finally did a long ride, we meant to do 26 miles but we ended up at 30.1 miles in the end. It was pretty good, the weather was nice enough although Lance got a bit sunburned and my knees had major muscle pain. I think I need another bike fitting.
We took off around the neighborhood and biked around the nearby towns, vineyards and teeeeeeeny hills. Started at 9am and I think finished at home around one something. I was beat. It was quite windy so at some parts I felt like I just couldn’t pedal faster. Oh! this was also Ryan’s and mine first ride with weight. We didn’t take all of our stuff but that was good practice.
This guy stopped by and asked if we needed anything and if everything was ok. That was nice, we told us that he once was really dehydrated and had stopped under a tree to rest and someone offered some water, if it wasn’t for that person he probably would’ve passed out. So it was nice he returned to favor although we didn’t need anything. We stopped at Taco Bell to refill our water bottles and some crazy guy came up to us asking for money….he was big…and heavy. He got too close for me to be calm until I told him I could offer him a granola bar cause I had no cash. He took it and left but came back telling us about his “cross country trip in a bicycle with those things” referring to water bottles. I doubt he did such thing.
We came back home and I knew that my knees were not going to feel good that night and BOY WAS I RIGHT! Ugh. Terrible pain. TERRIBLE. It lasted for about two days….so I’m a little afraid cause I don’t want this to happen in the trip. It only happened before once, a while ago before I got my bike fitted, and I have a feeling it has to do with that, cause I’ve adjusted my seat since then so now I gotta figure out how to make my knees not ouchie.
Looking forward to another long ride soon :)
