We could consider this trip part of our Honeymoon or our 2-month anniversary celebration :)
Our friend Cameron wasn’t able to make it to our wedding in October and I guess he felt oh SO bad (my guilt trips paid off MMuuaaaHaaahaahhhhaa!) and sent us away for the weekend. What a nice present Cam…thank you again :)
- Sunset from our Balcony
He didn’t tell us where we were going until the night before, the anticipation was SO fun. He put us up for one night at the Bodega Bay Lodge & Spa in Bodega Bay (duh). Beautiful location with so much to do! It’s a long the coast, so…awesome views. Our room had a great view of the ocean and an amazing sunset. We spent Saturday afternoon driving around the area looking for places to visit. We went out to a seafood place…so fresh, it was delicious! The Lucas Wharf. Took some pictures of the area and went back to our room to see the sunset…ahhhhhh looooovely. A bottle of champagne was waiting for us by the fire place so we got that ready and celebrated “us” again. Got the fire place going and relaxed!
The next day we had breakfast (which he so kindly included in the package) and went back to the room and rested until it was time to go. It was really hard to get away from the bed, it was like sleeping in a cloud…seriously. Heavenly. Packed up and drove under the rainy and cloudy sky for a few miles until it cleared up. The sun came out…took some pictures by the beach, had some Indian food, and drove to Fort Ross.

- Fort Ross
A Russian fort from the 1800s that thankfully, is still there. People’s efforts to keep that place up have been endless. They’ve rebuilt all of the buildings except one, but they have kept the original design. The history there is amazing, definitely a place to visit. You can walk around and enter the buildings. They got displays in rooms of Russian items, supplies, furniture, etc. There’s a ton of information in the museum about all the people that lived there. It was pretty awesome to be in a place like that walking around the same fields and roads, touching the same walls, even seeing some of the same trees that people did centuries ago. I loved that.
We stayed there for a long time enjoying the place. Watched the sunset which illuminated the area so beautifully. We left and the sky was bright orange. Oh, what an evening. WHAT A WEEKEND! We really need to go back to go wine tasting, visit the Schultz Museum, go to Fort Bragg, to go Sebastopol…so much to see!
Anyway, we had a wonderful time, the area is absolutely beautiful. Here are some pics!
