My cousin asked me a couple of years ago to paint her belly cast. I JUST finished it! (don’t judge me!) Eli, now you can send me the wedding photos…lol!

Here are some links that have kits you can purchase to make it in the comfort of your home, check out their galleries, they’re pretty impressive. Elizabeth had her hubby do it…which I thought was pretty sweet.

When she told me she wanted me to paint it, I was like “are you suuuuuuuure????” I mean, I’m not even that great of a painter so I thought it was nice that she asked me. I was really excited about it cause I had never done anything like it before. At the same time, I was really nervous about it cause I had never done anything like it before…so it began.

The inspiration painting I found online. (Don’t know who the owner of that image is so I can’t give any credit or link back to it). It’s beautiful!

First, some cracks had to be fixed, then draw a sketch. BIG mistake. After sketching I was ready to paint…THEN I realized I had to sand it first, otherwise the paint would be bumpy. I had to re-sand the whole thing and yup, you got it, re-sketch it too. Oh bother.

I hadn’t the slightest idea how it would turn out the second time. You know when you do something nice and you think you can’t do it again? I finally painted it, re-painted it, and I got STUCK. I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t finish it. They say it’s best to get away from a project if you’re stuck and come back to it later, then you’ll see it differently and are able to work better. That’s exactly what happened except that it took me months…literally.

Finally finished it last week after having to re-do the bottom part again. It had to be re-done anyway cause it began to crack on the edges. If you look at the slide show, you can tell I changed some of the original sketch, some minor details. So after all that boring story Elizabeth better be happy with it. You hear me! You WILL like it. Otherwise I will keep it :) Enjoy!!! Sorry about the “short” delay. Heeeeheee.
