No, I didn’t make a New Year’s resolution. It is not about losing weight. We are both pretty tired of feeling uncomfortable with our bodies and not working out like we used to.
We thought about a gym membership, too expensive and inconvenient.
I ordered P90X after hearing about it from a couple of friends. Got it on the mail, opened the box and tried it and I was like…great, now we gotta spend a buncha money on equipment. So it went back and got exchanged for: dun dun duuuuun INSANITY.
I had seen the infomercials on INSANITY and I was visually hooked. I spend a few hours google-ing (how do you spell that?) videos and people talking about it. We were like “let’s do it!” All you need is your body. Yeah baby.
Now, this is a whole program that includes a nutrition plan. They also encourage you (of course) to get the post workout drink (which we got) as well as their shakes, which we did not purchase.
It may sound bad, but I’m not planning to follow this program to a “T”. Why? Because one, my body right now, cannot take the (insane…ha!) intensity of these workouts daily. Two, because I do not agree with their nutritional options/guides, and three, because with school, we’re not at home a lot and no, I am not willing to wake up at 4am to workout. That may sound lazy but I’m not gonna say I’m gonna do it, and not do it, I’m just not gonna. K? K. I believe my body will do just fine missing a couple of days out of the week to recover. It will need them.
Anyway, I’m SO out of shape, it will take a few weeks to get this going how I would like. I mean, I haven’t seriously worked out for real, for real, since the bicycle trip, now THAT was a real workout, almost 8 months ago. My body can’t even do a push up! I used to do 25! Not even one now.
FOOD GOALS:
As far as the food goes, the program suggests to eat 40% carbs, 40% protein, 20% fats. Well, I’m not gonna look at it like that. I’ll be watching my portions, eating mostly veggies and fruits (will be the main part of my meals), protein will consist of fish and chicken once or twice a week, less fats (oils, dairy, etc), less or no processed foods (canned, boxed, frozen, jarred, including salad dressings, ketchup, etc), more water, fresh juice (with our juicer), coffee will must stay, beer only once a week, wine every 2 days (gotta have it).
WORKOUT GOALS:
I’m gonna try as much as I can, to do everything in each workout to the best of my ability. I will push myself but also take my time to make sure I um, don’t die. Literally. Cause last time we tried out this gym around our neighborhood, (workout similar to insanity), I was getting really bad chest pains and I couldn’t breath. That’s cause I was so out of shape and I had just jumped into this intense workout right away which is not a good idea, ever. So I’ll try hard but I will take it easy when I need to.
BODY GOALS:
I’m just trying to get in shape. That means lose weight, be in my normal/healthy weight limits and feel good about myself. Don’t care about how much fat I lose or how much muscle I gain anymore, I just wanna be healthy and feel comfortable.
So, I’ll post all about day ONE.

DONAJI,
Once you begin working out and experiencing the results you may get hooked on working out. If this happens I would like to strongly urge you to consider becoming a Beachbody Coach. Beachbody began offering this a couple of years ago. Being a Coach helps you stay fit after your initial program is done and allows you to make money in the process.
Follow this link to learn more about becoming a coach or shoot me an email at Nathan@rippedbody.org. Look for the Coach icon at the middle bottom of the page.
