Yes, I need to declutter. bad. I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but this week is Spring Cleaning over at SimpleMom and others. Join us and declutterI’m actually excited about it after buying her $7 e-book “Spring Cleaning for Normal People“. I’ve been thinking about going through out the house getting rid of things we don’t use anymore and don’t need. I was encouraged after reading Zen Habits. I want to feel “lighter” and live a bit more simple. It’s hard for me, personally…I like to collect things, useless things. Ryan likes to collect memories (outside of his head).

It’s not always hard to get rid of things. Sometimes, if I don’t think about it too long, I can get rid of it and I don’t regret it, AND it feels really good. I have a few boxes in the garage that need to be out of the house. I’ve been waiting for this truck to come along to take ‘em to the needy. Better than tossing them or giving them to the Goodwill where it will be sold.

I also signed up for Freecycle, it’s a great way of getting rid of stuff you no longer need, someone always take it and uses it. It’s great! You can search for your city and post what you want to get rid of, someone will reply if they want it, they take it and it’s done. You can also ask if anyone has something you need. We had a lady come and pick up all of our moving boxes. It was great cause it saved us a trip to the dumpster and she needed ‘em so it saved her a trip or a few trips around the city looking for boxes.

Anyway, I’ve seen people ask and offer all sorts of things, from moving boxes to furniture, baby clothes, food, toys, yard tools, swing sets, I mean, you name it. So, check it out! Here’s what it says on their homepage:

Welcome! The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,775 groups with 7,090,000 members across the globe. It’s a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them’s good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by entering it into the search box above or by clicking on “Browse Groups” above the search box. Have fun!

The plan this week is to do as much as I can during the week. I’m not sure if I’ll be successful, I got tons of other things to do this week but it will keep me really busy. Homework plus a bit of work, cleaning, and website related stuff. I would also love to replant some of my seedlings that need to be in pots now.

The most important thing I’d like to do this week is get rid of some clothes I no longer use/need. Been trying to do that for a couple of months and nothing. I already have a trash bag full, I wanted to use to make sewing projects. Don’t know when I’ll get around to that!

Wish me luck and let the cleaning begin!
