School has been over for 2 weeks, thank God. I’ve enjoyed all my classes, greatly but I’m very much looking for this break. I had forgotten we were going to Alaska for a few weeks and although I’m excited about it, kinda bummed me out thinking I wanted to spend more time at home working on some projects I haven’t been able to finish…or start.
So the last 2 weeks of school or so were hectic, but I was able to complete everything nicely and got my A’s! Woohooo! I took some pictures of all the projects we did through out the semester in my comping class, that was way too fun. The drawings are from my sketching class final project, and the other graphics are from my digital tools class last projects and final project.
Sketching Class Final – Make a 5-8 story board composition depending on your major. Mine: Graphic Design. I chose to do a story about a character I made up that’s in love with Target. I made him cartoonish looking but everything around him pretty realistic to be able to show perspective. We also had to choose different angles and use atmospheric perspective. The story boards were mounted on black poster board and the value was added with Prismacolor gray markers of different values.

Digital Tools Class Final – We had to make a collage using Photoshop and any other tools we wanted. The collage had to consist of our vision of our future, what we wanted, any goes. So I focused mine on my real goals: family, career as a designer, my husband’s career as a composer, us having our own business, being sustainable by growing our own food, having children, and being active (bike in pic). I added “create, love, imagine” as that’s part of how I feel about life. The overall picture is an old looking book or pages with a silhouette of a girl and all that stuff is in her brain. Let’s just pray that really ends up like that ;)
Digital Tools Class Final - Collage of our Future
Comping Class Final – Our final was to make a “progress book” and bind it professionally, but cut our pages manually, come up with a cover, add a design using all the skills we learned. Also, we had to bring all of our project we made throughout the semester. These included: Take out boxes (used for gift boxes) and chop sticks holder, a regular gift box, a shopping bag, a balsamic vinegar bottle (we had to design the whole label, color and all, have it printed professionally, we had to decorate it somehow), brochures, an accordion book, and the process book.

DONAJI! This is my favorite post so far! I LOVE the cartoon. I would definitely love to see more of this little character. AND OMG…..I need to have a copy of Mr. Houck’s drawings! I’m his biggest fan! I’m also your biggest fan too! You go girl.
Love it!!!! We loved your class projects. And, the target guy is a winner. You should submit it to Target and see if you could get some interest. Love the collage. Would like to see it close up and personal. We had some thoughts about having a rack of greeting cards with Ryan and your work. Keep up the great work. We are your biggest fans. Have a great Alaskan vacation.
