Alaska Trip – Ship Creek

I present to you: THE WHIPPET. Her name: Esme. She comes from Alabama and now belongs in Alaska with Mr. Marshall. She’s a dog but doesn’t act like one. I like her, she’s chill and non-intrusive. Her eyes are not the window to her soul, I don’t know where her soul is, but she’s a good dog. A little high maintenance at time but low maintenance for the most part. She’s a good travel dog, and a good petting dog. She also doesn’t beg for food like most dogs do and she loves to snuggle. She likes to lick, which is my least favorite part. She also doesn’t fetch, if she does, only when she feels like it. So here she is. Ms. Esme.

The second day we relaxed around the house, planned some of our trips, went and had sushi (*slurp*) and fished at Ship Creek. Now, I’ve never seen fishing like this…but then again, I had never been to Alaska. People there, fish shoulder to shoulder, literally. I’m not sure how people don’t get hooked on each other. It’s insane. It was crazy. We saw this kid though (the one with the yellow shirt on one of the pictures), he caught a huuuuge salmon. Never seen a fish that big in person. He couldn’t even pull it out of the water so the guy with the net with the fish inside, is helping him out while he nonchalantly texts someone, probably regarding his catch. Quite a sight.

We walked around the edge trying to find a good spot, a not so crowded one. It was freezing, I was wearing 5 layers! It started sprinkling, we were there for quite some time. We witnessed 3 big catches. I was jealous and determined but we went home empty handed. It was fun though (and muddy). I guess the mud in Alaska is really a huge problem. They say people get stuck and sometimes so bad, they can’t be rescued. What a tragedy.

Cam needed much help redecorating his bedroom which we robbed for the whole stay and I HAD TO agree. I was not going to be able to sleep well in that room, so I had to help him out for my own insanity. It came out much better but I didn’t take any before or after photos. Just gotta take my word for it, huuuuuge improvement.

At night we sipped on delicious rum and smoked the hookah for a short while. Had to take some pictures, cause I love smoke. How it looks I mean.

Enjoy the pictures!
