Room Make Over

in Cleaning & Organizing

The past couple of weeks, besides our trip to L.A. and other small trips, I’ve spent most of my time spring cleaning my “craft room”. It felt like a dungeon. Dark, boring, dark, dark, and without any ‘color’, very much deprived of calmness. I practically hated it. So I’ve did a complete make over, painted, got rid of a buncha junk, and put some inspirational stuff up. The result? A soothing, calming, inspiring happy place, I love to sit in and work in. Here are the before and after and some snapshots of the details and blurbs of where they inspiration came from.

Color Palette: I saw this lovely watercolor from the hubby, and I fell in love with the colors so I decided to make it my color palette and I don’t think I stuck to it in the end, but it’s there, somewhere. I was looking for something calming, yellows, beige, greens, blues and a splash of orange/red/fuchsia. I wanted to make most of the decorations, that’s mainly why it took so long to finish the whole thing. Here’s the pictures I gathered from the internet, I can’t find some of them again, sorry. So here are the BEFORE photos:

Here are the AFTER photos:

Some details: I wanted to frame a bunch of fabric, embroidered cutesies, quotes and anything that went together. That cool lamp I bought from our friend who’s husband made it back in the 70s! $10 and I loved it! Thanks Kathy! Reorganized my storage closet, made a word collage here, printed it and framed it, made a little corner out love are with some wedding photos, a little nook for my nieces and nephews (some at least), got some cheap flowers at the craft store, used some old lamps as pencils/pens holder to max space, used an old bourbon box for school materials used often, made some framed fabric word wall art (?) inspired from here, ordered a cute print from this cool artist, framed some fabric and tried to embroider a couple of things.

WOW talk about Extreme Home Makeover. I love the new look. I was a little sad to see the blue/gray wall go…but I see why you did it. A+ from me, and that means a lot cause I’m a teacher.

Thank you Ms. P! If you could be in the room when it was blue, you’d be like Eeyore. It was too dark, this room makes me feel sunny and happy all the time, that’s all I need for inspiration :) Thanks for reading you!
