The Fugitive Flower

One of our last assignments in our photography class was to take a conceptual photo using the title “The Fugitive Flower” for the inspiration. You’d think it would be easy since conceptual pretty much is anything goes. But NOPE. The most pondering I’ve done for this class so far was for this assignment.

I finally came up with an idea using a dead rose and some red paint simulating blood. The concept was of the rose being cut against its will to become a flower arrangement, something she has not desire to be part of, so she runs away from the vase and ends up dying from thirst and bleeds to dead cause of the cut. That was really silly but that’s what I could come up with.

The more obvious ideas had already been done so we had to think outside the box and use our imagination to come up with something ambiguous. Here are my top 3 favorite shots. The first one is the one I submitted for grading.

Makes me view my flowers a little differently. I almost felt bad for the little guy/girl. Good job.
