CA Road Trip – Los Angeles

For our 1 year wedding anniversary, we decided to celebrate it this past week doing a road trip to Southern California, where we have family and friends along the coast. It was perfect timing for us, as the main reason for the trip was to see my brother who came from Nicaragua to play for the very first time in Los Angeles, his second U.S. concert. The event couldn’t have fallen on a more perfect weekend. We used our 2-week Summer break between semesters, as this was our only chance to celebrate our anniversary, since the actual date will fall on a school day :(

FIRST STOP: Los Angeles.

Thanks to our lovely cousins in L.A., we were able to make this trip happen. They were so kind to let us sleep over and stay at their house while visiting with my brother. We spent a few hours together and as always, so nice, comfortable, and fun to see them. Thanks guys! We love you so much, thanks for trusting us with your sweet home :)

Perrozompopo: That’s my brother who’s been building his career as a musician for a while now, he’s finally been able to play in the states. I’m extremely proud of all the work he’s done to get here, not that this was his goal but it’s definitely a huge deal. He’s been focusing mainly in Nicaragua and Central America and has played in other countries such as Spain, Italy, Sweden, Germany and I don’t know where else. Earlier this year, he released this third album “CPC – Canciones Populares Contestarias” and it’s FREE to download on his website. My brother Frank who lives in L.A. managed him while he was here and was able to find him this gig at the Visionary Sounds Music Festival. He closed the show on one of the two stages. It was so much fun, there was tons of energy and people really liked him. Interviews were going on all through out the week, from magazines, to internet, radio and TV, it all kind of exploded once he was here. It was all very exciting for them, as it opened future opportunities, they’re looking into coming back in October, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

We spent some time together and hung out around the city, watched them practice, took some photos and videos and said goodbye after the concert. It has been 3 yrs since I last saw him, since I don’t travel often to Nicaragua. His first U.S. mini-concert was in Miami, so my family there was able to see him but we were waiting for him to get to L.A. Maybe we’ll see him soon again…

On Sunday we went to see Ryan’s cousin play (drums) with one of his many bands. They played country music at an open market. That was nice too but it was very hot day. We walked around had some yummy Mexican food. We were supposed to see him later but plans fell through :( so we spent that day at Mason and Crystal’s resting and watching movies.

That was the last day in L.A.
