I feel like this blog is becoming a food blog…let me tell you, this is not my intention, it just kinda happens :) If I’m excited about something that tastes good and is good for you, I wanna share cause I’d love for people to do the same with me!
So to start a good morning, here’s a really yummy recipe for oatmeal I’ve been having before going to class. It fills me up and it’s so good and good for you! Let me just say, I used to HATE oatmeal…..no, really.
INGREDIENTS:
Preferably organic ingredients but definitely washed well.
Plain Oatmeal (Now, I can’t remember what kind I bought but it’s not instant, it’s completely plain but it doesn’t look like rolled oats, it looks like if you were to put rolled oats into a blender…so taste the same, but it’s much more smaller and less thick…I’m sure it’s oatmeal, what else could it be? It tastes just like it).
Milk or water
1 tsp ground flaxseed
1 tsp honey
1 tbsp walnuts or pecans
1 tbsp dried currants
3 strawberries sliced into squares
A handful of raspberries
A few blackberries
A pinch of nutmeg
A pinch of cinammon
Hemp seeds (optional, just for sprinkles)
NEXT:
Cook oatmeal to desired consistency. Add nutmeg, cinnamon, flaxseed and honey. Mix well with a spoon. Add currants and nuts, mix. Then add fruit for topping. Sprinkle with a little bit of hemp seeds.
I usually make about 1/4 of a cup of dried oatmeal and that’s just enough, as it expands it keeps me full for a long time and gives me the right amout of energy in the morning. Mmmm–mmmmmm goodness!
